Tooting Our Own Horn

After some arm twisting by Carolyn Schlueter, Molly and I entered our first juried commercial art gallery photography competition.
The competition was Beyond the Lens IX: A Photography Exhibition sponsored by Framations, 218 N Main,St.Charles,MO.
From Carolyn’s description, this is one of the major photography competitions in the Greater St. Louis area.
The gallery awards Honorable Mention ribbons as well as cash awards for first through third places and of course each image is available for sale.
You can read a more detailed explanation of the competition as well as the judge’s CV at this link

We entered 7 images and after the jury process, 5 of out 7 were accepted into the show for hanging and exhibition at the gallery.
A reception was held January 30th to open the exhibition. Ninety plus images were displayed and the judge was there to comment on the jury process and to help with the award ceremony.
After the dust settled, I was awarded 1st place for my image Track Condition-Muddy. Both Molly and I are so proud to be in the show and the 1st place award and cash is just a bonus blessing.

Here are the images that were accepted into the show:

  1. Congratulations…I have long thought and admired the two birds on the birdhouse. That should be in the Photograph Hall of Fame…One of the best ever nature pictures and I have seen many. Best Wishes and Good Luck.

    • Thanks Sam

The image was taken at a location you know well…Gaston’s fence line near the grass airstrip. Molly and I went there every year for our anniversary for over 20 years. First to fish and relax and then later to photograph the blue birds and relax. 🙂

This image hangs in our family room because it is one my favorites as well.

      Thanks

      Bill

Thank you for taking me under your wing and helping me understand horses, horse racing and the people that love both of them.
I’m sure that your prediction about the jockey will come true.
      The guy has the touch.

      See you soon
